Hi everyone!

Hi everyone!

Jul 23

Carisse here. I just wanted to say hello to everyone. We’ve been quiet for a while now so I wanted to send out a quick update on what to expect from us and to let you all know what we have been up to.

Over the summer, we ran 2 artist workshops at Conspiracy Bar and Cafe. Manong Joey Ayala facilitated for us, through the kindness of the Bagong Lumad Artist’s Foundation. Maraming salamat po, Manong Joey! We were able to sit with artists like Salamin, Barbie Almalbis, DJ Benjo Marquez, Inky de Dios of Brigada, Lourd de Veyra of Radioactive Sago Project, Peryodiko and Gloc-9 as we discussed how to write music for children. Watch out for our feature on that!

Also, we are now on twitter! If you have a twitter account, please do follow us and share your thoughts with us on how we can help our children grow up surrounded by positive, enriching messages. You’ll be hearing from us more regularly on this website as well, so please do check back once in a while, or subscribe to our blog.

We are also pleased that Teacher Yangky Agustin of the UP Child Development Center has joined Republikha as our adviser for research and content development. Please watch out for my feature on Teacher Yangky. She is a dedicated teacher who also happens to be a musician, and has greatly inspired us at Republikha. What a blessing to have her on our team.

I will also be updating you on music and education events that I get to attend, and artists I get to spend time with. If you have any comments you would like to share, please leave us a note. We’d love to hear from you!

On that note, I’d also like to personally thank those that have gone out of their way for us already. Thank you to: JC Valencia, Jeminah Ferrer, Abu Hibek, Aaron Manila, the kids of Jesus Loves the Little Children Foundation, Jeff Bascon of Red Logo, Gabbie dela Rama-Talan of Homestyle Magazine, DJ Patti and DJ Tracy from Vitamin Double D on Jam 88.3, Gino dela Paz of SUPREME, the Claudio family, the Escueta family, the Dancel family, the Tarroja family, Sam Ramos, Paul Pajo, Kerin Ching, our Board of Trustees, and Tito Tony Meloto of Gawad Kalinga.

Your kindness will always be remembered!

That’s it for now! Have a safe and happy weekend, everyone!
