…and we’re back!

…and we’re back!

Jan 26

Hello everyone! It’s been almost a month since we last updated. My fault! Just wanted to touch base with everyone and reconnect.

On a personal note, I took some time to take stock of everything that Republikha stands for and has accomplished so far, from the bar gigs, to the children’s music festival at Smokey Mountain, to the public school teachers we’ve worked with, and the wonderful young people who have given their time and efforts to us. We are grateful. The whole reason we began this organization is because we wanted to make a statement about music and the way it is made in this country and bring others with us along the way.

Certainly it began as an idea germinating in my head and my heart, but it took on a life of its own and grew into a family called Team Republikha. We believe that music, when put to work the right way for the right reasons, can make powerful things happen. We’ve seen a lot of disappointments in the country and a lot of us are frustrated at how the industry has evolved.

We believe our hope lies in the audience that is listening to everything – the children. If we can serve them right, and give them options about what they hear, if we can introduce them to artists that are not only talented but worth listening to, one day we will have a new generation of listeners that demands good music to be heard. And then the industry won’t have a choice but to comply. Idealistic perhaps but it’s worth a shot don’t you think?

So as we get ready to finally release our first volume of music, please do stand with us on this. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we try to do this thing that hasn’t been done before. Come along with us for the ride, and let’s make a music uprising happen. Tell us your own stories, ideas and struggles. And thank you in advance, for wishing us well, for encouraging us, and for believing that music can change this country.

See you all soon.

xo,

Carisse
