Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why music for kids?

It has been said that whatever we learn when we are very young are usually the lessons we carry with us as we get older. Music is a powerful tool that can help send positive messages. Young children today are exposed to all kinds of things, most notably, the kind of stuff that are inappropriate and “too adult”. So if we know we can provide them with better alternatives, why not do that today?

On that note, we also want to create new songs for kids to grow up with, as well as introduce them to the amazing talents of the Filipino musician. We are proud of our local talent! Much as we also love the music that other countries produce, this time we want to uplift Filipino artists and introduce them to a brand new audience.

2. Why are there English and Filipino versions?

Part of our movement involves breaking down barriers, including that of language. We want to be able to reach as wide an audience as possible, including Filipino children who may not have grown up in this country and want to learn the language. Granted, our country is known for its many languages and dialects, but we feel that this is a good jump-off point. We will always be open to having our material translated into other dialects.

3. I noticed that you carry the Gawad Kalinga Sibol Schools logo. What does this partnership mean?

While developing our material, we want to be certain that our messages and lessons are effective. We plan to test our songs and develop the material with chosen preschool audiences to stay true to this goal.

Gawad Kalinga runs what is called the Sibol Schools, preschools that are built within the GK villages for the sake of educating the young children who live there. You will also notice the logo of Nest School for Whole Child Development. These two schools represent a picture of the audiences we want to reach. By working hand in hand with them, we become more aware of the issues that are relevant to the Filipino child, regardless of his social class. Of course, we are not limited to these partnerships. We want to reach as many children as possible, and this is just the beginning!

4. Why do you want to give away your albums for free to underprivileged communities?

Our heart is to reach every child in this nation. We are aware that music may not be on top of the priority list for many schools and communities that are facing challenges such as facilities, budget and staffing. The point is, we want kids to hear the songs, and by providing them with free copies, we help ensure that they can enjoy and learn from the material. Change cannot happen if we become exclusive and forget that our countrymen need extra help. By donating to us, you help ensure that even the most underprivileged communities can have a chance at having a copy of the album.

5. How will this album be different from the other albums for children out there?

We are encouraged by the wonderful albums that are already out in the market for children to enjoy. However, we also see the need for material that was developed with the goal of learning in mind. Our album is designed to be a tool for educators and parents, apart from being a good source of entertainment for children. In the future, Republikha will conduct training workshops for educators, parents and anyone who works with young children. We also are developing teaching and learning material that everyone can use.

6. How can I help?

The fastest way to help us is to spread the word! Donations, of course, will always help and are always needed. Without your cash donations, we wouldn’t be able to do what needs to be done. In the future, we will also have special events that will need volunteers, so check back often and see what we are up to. We would love to work with people who believe in using music in a positive way!
